If you’re visiting Napa Valley and looking for a fun, unique experience beyond wine tasting, our Here-for-a-Day Dance Class is the perfect way to add a little rhythm to your trip! Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or have never stepped foot on a dance floor, this class is designed to be fun, accessible, and memorable. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions so you know exactly what to expect.
What is the Here-for-a-Day Dance Experience?
This is a one-time dance experience designed for visitors who want to try something new, move to great music, and add to an unforgettable Napa Valley adventure. You’ll learn a short, fun routine that’s easy to follow and tailored to all experience levels.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably in clothes that allow you to move freely. Think casual, activewear, or anything you’d feel good dancing, movin' and groovin' in.
What kind of shoes should I wear?
We don’t expect you to have ballroom shoes for this class. However, please avoid heels, as they can damage the floor. Tennis shoes or socks work just fine! If you've got any sort of dance, ballet or jazz shoes, feel free to bring 'em!
What should I bring?
Aside from yourselves and a smile, we recommend bringing a water bottle and a light jacket for when you’re warming up. You may also consider a notebook if you want to write anything down. (This one goes without saying these days, but a phone with a camera is good too. You'll want to record a few things...)
Do I need previous dance experience?
Not at all! Our choreography is designed to be fun and easy for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or have some experience.
Do I need a partner?
No partner? No problem! We offer routines for both couples and individuals. Most include solo sections for dancers to learn independently, and your instructor can step in as your dance partner if needed. Just let us know your preference, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Can I pick the song?
Our choreographed routines are set to carefully chosen, well-known songs that are the right speed for all ability levels. If you have a specific song in mind for a special event, let us know! Sometimes we can pivot or recommend a different program to fit your needs.
Where and when can I find the Group Class Calendar?
The class schedule is always printed at the front desk when you come in and available online at least two weeks before the new month.
Can I bring alcohol?
We understand that a little liquid courage can go a long way, so feel free to bring one bottle per group. A glass before you start is one thing, but we don't want to see any unintentional sailer shuffles goin' on!
Is it a good idea to visit three wineries before my lesson?
A glass of wine beforehand is fine to help you loosen up, but if you arrive clearly inebriated, we will have to cancel your lesson without a refund. Also, please note: 🚨 If anyone vomits in the studio, there is a $750 fine. 🚨 We recommend scheduling your dance class after your first winery stop or after lunch if you’re touring wine country.
Who can participate?
Please keep in mind that Slow Fox Dance Hall is geared toward adults, but we do have a minimum age limit that is 13.
What if I want a customized choreography for a special event?
We offer private choreography options for weddings, birthdays, and other events. Just reach out to us via phone or email, and we’ll be happy to recommend the right program for you!
What time is the class offered?
We generally offer Here-for-a-Day Dance Experiences between 11 AM and 4 PM. However, if you really want to come in during the evening, reach out. If we can accommodate you, we will.
What should I expect when I arrive?
Please plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start your class right on time!
We can’t wait to welcome you to Slow Fox Dance Hall and make your visit to Napa even more special. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a girls’ trip, or just looking for something fun to do, this class is a fantastic way to create lasting memories—and maybe even discover a new passion!
